Ali Cat Catering is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced chef to join our team. We offer delivery and on-site catering services to corporate and private clients within the town of Whitehorse, and occasionally up to three hours away from Whitehorse. Our event sizes range from 10 - 300 guests. We cater everything from simple corporate breakfasts and lunches to plated dinners for 100+ guests, formal cocktail parties, and weddings.
Everything in our kitchen is made from scratch -- bread, desserts, soups, lasagna, curries, dips, roasts, dressings, etc. The right applicant will have an ability to cook some things from scratch without a recipe, or have the ability to research and adapt a recipe to meet a specific need. Baking proficiency is a plus but not required.
We are a small kitchen of two - four staff on shift at one time. Therefore, every member of the team is expected to wash dishes and run deliveries. Everyone will assist wherever is necessary to execute the orders smoothly.
We often work within a corporate work schedule (Monday - Friday; 7-3 or 10-6). However, flexibilty is a requirement of the job and the right candidate will be able to work some 12 hour shifts if needed, as well as some evenings and weekends. Overtime (more than 40 hours a week) is paid at a rate of time and a half.
Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years experience working in a commercial kitchen.
Must have a valid Yukon driver's license.
Ability to cook unsupervised and maintain top level quality.
Ability to manage your time in order to meet delivery deadlines.
Awareness of common allergens (nuts, soy, dairy, gluten), and ability to work within specified dietary restrictions.
Those with experience expediting and/or short order cooking will have an advantage.
Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours a day.
Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.
