In-School Education Coordinator

Position Overview:
The In-School Education Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering Skills Canada Yukon’s mission to promote trades and technology careers as a top choice option for Yukoners. This position involves facilitating dynamic, hands-on learning experiences in classrooms, promoting career pathways, and building strong relationships with educators, students, and community partners.Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate presentations and workshops for students in Grades 6–12 across the Yukon.
Facilitate hands-on activities that simulate real-world applications of skilled trades and technologies.
Promote awareness of apprenticeship pathways, post-secondary options, and career opportunities in trades and tech.
Coordinate with schools to schedule visits and tailor content to curriculum and student needs.
Represent Skills Canada Yukon at career fairs, competitions, and community outreach events.
Assist in planning, promoting, and delivering key Skills Canada Yukon events throughout the fiscal year.
Maintain, transport, and set up educational materials, tools, and equipment.
Collect and analyze feedback from students and educators to improve programming.
Support the development of new educational content, including digital and print resources.
Collaborate with other educators and staff to align programming with provincial and national initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience working with youth in an educational, community or mentorship setting.
Strong ability to engage and motivate youth toward career exploration and skills development.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.

Educational & Communication Skills
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Ability to explain complex concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
Experience with classroom management and student engagement strategies.
Technical & Trade Awareness
General knowledge of skilled trades and technology sectors (e.g., construction, manufacturing, IT, culinary, automotive).
Comfort using tools, equipment, and technology in demonstrations.
Interpersonal & Relationship-Building
Ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and community stakeholders.
Cultural sensitivity and inclusivity when working with diverse student populations, including Indigenous communities.
Organizational & Planning
Strong time management and logistical planning skills.
Ability to manage multiple school visits and events across the territory.
Creativity & Innovation
Ability to design interactive, hands-on learning experiences.
Willingness to adapt and innovate based on student feedback and emerging trends.
Digital Literacy
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva).
Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and digital engagement tools is an asset.
Assets (Preferred but Not Required):
Experience in a skilled trade or technical field.
Bilingualism (English/French or Indigenous languages).
Familiarity with Yukon’s education system and career development frameworks.
First Aid/CPR certification.
