The Adult Lesson Sailing Instructors plan and instruct sailing lessons for sailors aged 16 and up. There is also potential for the Adult Lesson Sailing Instructor to assist with youth summer day camps on an on-call basis. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills and previous coaching experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to lesson planning, communication with program participants, set-up and take-down each evening. This position reports to the Directors of the Yukon Breeze Sailing Society.
The Adult Lesson Sailing Instructor works part-time June through August on weeknight evenings (Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays) and weekends throughout the summer. We are looking for instructors who can commit to a minimum of 2 sessions in the summer (a single session is 9 hours excluding prep time and takes place on weekday evenings or on weekends).
There is no public transportation to Schwatka Lake. A requirement of employment is transportation to and from work (our location is approximately a 15 minute bike ride or 6 minute drive from downtown Whitehorse).

Wage: $25 - $30 per hour (depending on experience)
Required Certifications:
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR C certification (needed before start date)
- Pleasure Craft Operators Card (needed before start date)
- CANSail 1&2 and/or CANSail 3&4 Instructor (Trained or Certified) and Sail Canada Instructor Registration for 2026 (would be considered an asset)
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- previous experience coaching sailing
- strong organizational and planning skills
- strong leadership qualities
- strong communication skills
- previous work teaching or instructing adults (would be considered an asset)

The Yukon Breeze Sailing Society is a non-profit organization with a mandate to provide Yukon residents with an opportunity to learn basic, advanced, and racing sailing skills, while promoting safe boating practices and developing a Northern sailing community.
We are located on Schwatka Lake in Whitehorse, Yukon on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
