Program Coordinator

Location: Whitehorse based
Reports To: Executive Director, Skills Canada Yukon
Employment Type: Permanent Full-time
Travel Required: Yes – travel to schools and events across Yukon
Compensation: $28.00 - 30.00/hr
The Opportunity:
Skills Canada Yukon is looking for a confident, engaging communicator to bring trades and technology careers to life for youth across the territory.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable speaking to groups, and enjoys work that’s active, people-focused, and purpose-driven. What matters most is your ability to connect, present with confidence, represent the organization with professionalism and energy, and build strong relationships with educators, students and community partners.
You’ll spend your days in schools, at events, and in communities, introducing students in Grades 6–12 to hands-on activities, real career pathways, and the possibilities that skilled trades and technology offer in the Yukon.
What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging presentations and interactive workshops to classrooms and groups
  • Lead hands-on activities that introduce students to trades and technology in a practical, memorable way
  • Create new activities related to the Applied Design, Skills and Technologies curriculum
  • Travel to schools across Whitehorse and rural Yukon communities
  • Work with teachers and school staff to tailor sessions to student needs
  • Represent Skills Canada Yukon at career fairs, competitions, and community events
  • Help plan and deliver major annual events and outreach initiatives
  • Gather feedback from students and educators to continuously improve programming
  • Contribute ideas to new educational content, including digital and print materials
  • Support other team initiatives as needed

What You Bring
Required

  • Experience working with youth, the public, or groups (education, camps, recreation, customer-facing roles, facilitation, or similar)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and presentation tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva)
  • Strong time management and logistical planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple school visits and events across the territory.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly, including occasional overnight trips
  • Cultural sensitivity and inclusivity when working with diverse student populations, including Indigenous communities.
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check

Helpful but Not Required

  • Experience in a skilled trade or technical field.
  • Experience presenting, facilitating, coaching, or leading activities
  • First Aid/CPR, bilingualism (English/French or Indigenous languages)
