Compensation: $31.90 hourly, plus benefits as defined by the Collective Agreement
The Yukon Women’s Transition Home provides residential support services to women and gender diverse survivors of violence. As such, to respect the privacy of the people to whom we offer services, we hire only hire individuals who identify as such.
Qualifications:

• Combination of experience and post-secondary education in a related field
• Knowledge of gender-based violence and issues facing women and gender diverse individuals who have experienced violence and/or abuse
• Knowledge of resources available to women and gender diverse folx
• Experience working in a cross-cultural setting and knowledge/sensitivity to the needs of Indigenous women and their children
• Proven ability to respond to crisis and support others in a professional manner
• Proficient with Word, Outlook, Excel and Web browsers
• Knowledge of Response Based Practice an asset
• Proven ability to advocate for the women while maintaining respectful relationships with other agencies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to work with team members in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
• Creates an environment that preserves dignity while offering support, referrals, accompaniment and advocacy for victims of gender-based violence
• Support women, gender diverse people and their children in crisis in-person and by telephone
• Maintain the safety and security of the people accessing our services and our property
• Assist with the efficient operation of a 24-hour facility
• Works collaboratively with others to ensure the best support possible

Conditions of employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

• Current criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid Class 5 Yukon Drivers License (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• Valid First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
