Executive Director, ElderActive Recreation Association

The ElderActive Recreation Association of Yukon is seeking a new Executive Director. ElderActive is an active and vibrant organization with over 600 members 55 years and older interested in participating in a broad range of recreational activities. We are seeking an energetic and skilled individual to fill a vital role in administering the organization and managing the various programs and activities. The position is based in Whitehorse, with occasional travel to other Yukon communities.
The position is responsible for:

  • the daily operations of the organization;
  • the implementation of the strategic plan as set out by the Board of Directors;
  • supervising staff;
  • managing the annual budget;
  • building positive community relationships and partnerships;
  • supporting the Board in establishing long-term sustainable funding; and
  • ensuring the delivery of approved programs and services to ERA members.

The Executive Director is expected to spend the majority of working time in the office; however, flexible work arrangements may be approved by the Board.
Qualifications:
Education and/or experience in business administration or finance, adult recreation programming, or community development or a minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in a non-profit organization.
Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to other Yukon communities. Other requirements include current first aid certification and a satisfactory RCMP check. Access to a personal vehicle is also required.

Working Conditions:
● Flexible working hours based on 37.5 hours per week.
● Rate of pay: $35.00 to $40.00/hour, depending on experience
● Leave and other benefits in accordance with the Yukon Employment Standards Act. Includes a self-directed taxable health benefit after completion of probationary period.
