YuQuip Industrial Solutions is a locally owned and operated company located in Whitehorse, Yukon. We provide heavy duty on and off-road repair services and aftermarket parts sales. Our service department is primarily mobile based, providing mechanical repair across the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia either by fly-in or drive-in with our service trucks. Our two-bay local shop is also an authorized PMVI facility. Our goals are to provide excellent customer service with honesty, accuracy, and integrity.
The Job
Technicians at YuQuip work on a large variety of on and off-road equipment, as well as stationary and support equipment. Work occurs both at the YuQuip shop and out in the field wherever the customer may need us. YuQuip also offers 24-hour emergency services, so technicians are routinely on-call. Mechanical services include running repair (major and minor), component rebuilds, component exchanges, and full-scope diagnostics of all systems.
YuQuip provides technicians with coveralls, winter gear, and boot allowance. Service trucks are fully tooled.
Who We Are Looking For
Team YuQuip is seeking a journeyperson red seal heavy equipment technician with experience with on or off-road heavy equipment repair and diagnostics. The ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated, disciplined, communicative, detail oriented, and has the drive to take on the unique challenges associated with mechanical work in Canada’s North.
Technicians work a two week on/ two week off rotation; 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. Applicants living outside the Yukon will have flights and accommodations included in the contract.
Pay rate is $50 per hour with guaranteed overtime.
Required Skills and Training
· Valid class 5 driver's license with clean abstract
· Red seal Journeyperson license in on or off-road heavy equipment repair
· Ability to work away from home for up to 21 days
· Strong diagnostic skills
· Ability to work productively both within a team and alone
· Basic computer literacy (email, google docs, etc)
· Able to work outdoors and in adverse conditions
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Physically able and fit enough to lift a minimum of 50lb and tolerate long periods of walking or standing.
Assets
· Yukon or equivalent commercial inspection license
· Class 1 or 3 driver's license with clean abstract
· Air endorsement
