Job Summary:
The incumbent assists in the research, analysis development, monitoring and implementation of various environmental programs for the City.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plan, develop, implement, and monitor and evaluate various environmental programs.2. Research, compile statistical data and prepare reports.3. Recommend logistics relating to environmental programs.4. Provide input and support in relation to various environmental initiatives including public engagement, waste diversion and reduction, etc.5. Respond to enquiries from stakeholders.6. Prepare, monitor, maintain and report on funding agreements.7. Provide input into educational and communication materials.8. Follow, so far is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.9. Other related duties.
Position Requirements
Working Conditions:
Majority of the work is performed under normal office conditions. May be exposed to inclement weather or temperature extremes when doing surveys or conducting Household Hazardous Waste Days.
Knowledge and Skills:

  • Diploma in Environmental Science or related field.
  • 3 years previous related experience and 6 months on the job training.
  • Knowledge of federal and territorial environmental assessment processes and internal bylaws and policies.
  • Proven skills relating to communications, team building, liaise with stakeholders.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills to develop and present reports, position papers and proposals.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective relationships among peers and/or stakeholders.
  • Class 5 driver’s license.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Examples of Equipment to Operate:
General office equipment with the ability to operate ERP software programs, spreadsheets, electronic mail, word processing, etc.
