Programmer / Front of House

Hours: Tuesdays - Friday, 1:00pm - 5:30pm and Saturday 11:00am till 5:30pm with occasional evenings Sundays & Mondays off The Yukon Art Society (YAS) seeks a Programmer / Front of House staff person who is community-minded, passionate about the arts, and interested in working with artists, art patrons, and the public to promote the visual arts in the Yukon.
The Programmer coordinates programs that fulfill the Yukon Art Society’s mandate and appeal to a wide cross-section of the artist community and the general public of all ages. The Front of House tasks are shared between several employees.Tasks Include: • Developing a wide range of art workshops held in the Arts Underground studio• Exploring and developing programming partnerships with community groups• Working the POS system & reception desk, answering the phone/ greeting the public, responding to email inquiries• Processing sales at the reception desk, including the sale of artwork, art supplies, workshops, ceramic studio passes, memberships, and clay.• Providing assistance with exhibition openings, workshops and special events• Overseeing the Art Supply Store (pricing products, managing stock, placing art supply orders, organizing art supplies for workshops)Desired Knowledge and Skills: • Previous experience - 2 years related• Art Program curriculum development knowledge and experience is an asset• A proven passion for the arts• Demonstrated computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, email (Outook), and Zoom. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is an asset. • Knowledge of art supplies is an asset• Proficiency in basic mathematics and demonstrated attention to detail• Demonstrated communication, project/event management, organizational, analytical, creativity and multi-tasking skills.• Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills.• Proven ability to take initiative and work on a self-directed basis.This position reports to the Executive Director.
