Blood Ties Four Directions Centre is looking for an energetic and passionate
Health Education Coordinator
Focusing on harm reduction and sexual health programs with an emphasis in HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, harm reduction, and sexual health education you will:

  • Facilitate prevention education workshops and events to people in Whitehorse, including youth, people who use substances, people who are livinin Whitehorse Correctional Centre, people experiencing housing insecurity, and people living with HIV and/or hepatitis;
  • Facilitate educational workshops and events to increase knowledge of sexual health, sexually transmitted and blood borne infection prevention, harm reduction, safer use practices, and naloxone/ overdose prevention and response.
  • Coordinate social justice, education, and awareness events: Support Don’t Punish, World Hepatitis Day and International Overdose Awareness Day;
  • Design and implement safer sex and condom awareness campaigns and programs;
  • Prepare educational communications materials, such as social media posts;
  • Revise educational workshops to better meet community needs;
  • Managing the project budget and monitoring expenditure;
  • Evaluate program activities and complete funding reports;
  • Engage with community organizations and programs to collaborate on programming; and
  • Deliver front-line support and harm reduction programs, including in the Drop-in Centre, Needle and Pipe program, and Supervised Consumption Site.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Post-secondary training and/or equivalent experience in education, social sciences, social work, or another relevant field;
  • Experience community programs related to health and wellness;
  • Experience facilitating groups and strong facilitation skills;
  • Strong communication, event planning, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of cultural safety and Yukon First Nations histories;
  • Thorough understanding of the social determinants of health and their impact on Indigenous communities;
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification;
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check; and
  • Valid Yukon Drivers License and clear abstract.
  • Knowledge of HIV, hepatitis, and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections preferred.

We offer: a dynamic collaborative work environment, $34.27 per hour, and a benefits package. This position requires occasional travel to rural Yukon communities.
