Inclusion Yukon Society is a non-profit organization that works to promote meaningful inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities into community life. We provide advocacy, public-awareness and education, and program support. Our main focus is providing one-on-one support through day programming and job coaching. We also offer other programs such as respite services, and youth mentorship programs.
Job requirements:
- Fluent French speaker
- Must be available Monday to Friday, between 9-5pm
- Must have a valid Driver's license, and access to a reliable vehicle
- Criminal Record check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Current First Aid certified
- Enthusiasm to work with persons with intellectual disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work without supervision
- Adequate written communication and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite (word processing and spreadsheets). and aptitude for learning new online systems and tools.
- Ability to complete reports and documentation as required
Strong preference given to individuals with:
- Relevant support work experience
- FASD informed support training, or other relevant training
- A good sense of what inclusive community means
Job Description
We are currently looking to hire a part-time French-speaking support workers to provide daytime support to several Francophone individuals. The main details of support are: day programming through physical and recreational activities, attending appointments with clients, helping with meal planning and grocery shopping, budgeting and finances, and providing transportation to and from client homes on a regular basis. the position may include employment support as well.
The successful applicant will have relevant post-secondary education and/or experience in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. They must possess strong interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to manage a regular weekly schedule that includes recreational activities, volunteering, and exercise regimens. Awareness of proper protocols when handling sensitive information is also a must.
Regular communication with the caregivers, social workers, and the Inclusion Yukon program supervisor will be expected from the support worker, to outline goals and a learning plan for the individual. Working in the community with different partners to deliver on our mandate to fully include persons with disabilities in all walks of life, while maintaining the person’s safety, is a priority. A sense of adventure and frivolity with a healthy dose of common sense is necessary.
Salary Range
General Support Workers including Job Coaches starting wage is $26.00/hour, subject to review upon completion of probationary period.Benefits
Employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week will be eligible for GroupHEALTH Benefits after completing their probationary period.
