Intermediate GIS Technician

We are searching for an Intermediate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity. Our ideal candidate will have experience using Esri’s software suite, a familiarity with its tools and processes for data creation, data management and map production, and strong cartographic skills. Experience in performing spatial analysis for environmental assessments will be an asset.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Production of mapping to a high standard
  • Spatial database management
  • Creating and compiling datasets
  • Spatial analysis to support client/team projects
  • Working closely with EDI team members on GIS related project tasks

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated cartographic and analytical skills
  • Strong and effective time management skills, ability to QA/QC GIS products, and identify spatial and non-spatial issues
  • Self-motivation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment with limited supervision
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to simultaneously organize and manage tight timelines and multiple priorities
  • Experience using ArcGIS Online, Esri Mobile apps – Field Maps, Survey 123, and QGIS will be an asset

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of work/project experience and a diploma or B.Sc. degree with a concentration in Geomatics
  • Experience using Esri ArcGIS Pro
  • Proven high standard of mapping and cartography (submit portfolio)
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, editing and analyzing digital/spatial data, and producing high quality GIS products
  • Familiarity using raster and vector data to perform analytical processes
  • Familiarity or experience with satellite imagery and remote sensing (i.e., workflows and analyses), QGIS, AI, Python, ModelBuilder, and/or R will be considered an asset
