Reporting to the unit Clinical Care Managers (CCMs) the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the patient care areas. The Clinical Nurse Leader provides supervision to Patient Experience Division staff, manages of departmental resources, patient flow and transitions of care, and recommends and implements continuous process improvements while seeking to reduce costs and improve efficiency and quality. Working in collaboration with the Clinical Care management team, the incumbent oversees quality control and incident reporting, supports development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols, and coordinates and facilitates workplace solutions while consulting all appropriate stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of established practices and procedures of professional nursing care;
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the nursing field;
  • Knowledge of clinical education principles;
  • Knowledge of management methods and techniques including human and financial management;
  • Advocacy and assertiveness skills;
  • Ability to teach nursing practices and other relevant unit skills;
  • Ability to develop and implement nursing care plans;
  • Ability to plan and implement a resource management program for patient care units;
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing;
  • Ability to effectively engage with a variety of physician personalities ranging from widely experienced generalists to highly specialized visiting medical staff from out of province health care facilities.
  • Ability to advocate for patients, patients’ families, unit staff or other allied members of the allied health care team.

  • Computer Literacy.

The successful applicant will have a Degree or Diploma in Nursing, current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association and hold current CPR-Automated Extended Defibrillator (AED) Healthcare Provider certification. Five to ten years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting at a senior supervisory level and a Master’s degree preferably in Nursing or Leadership. Post Graduate Certification in Critical Care, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Maternity, Emergency Room or Operating Room, if hired as Clinical Nurse Leader within specialized areas.. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
