Reporting to the Director of Ambulatory Services, the incumbent has the responsibility, authority and accountability for the clinical, financial and personnel management of the medical rehabilitation services at all Yukon Hospital (YHC) facilities.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

  • Good knowledge of management methods, techniques and skills including ability to develop and manage budgets and human resources;
  • Strong knowledge of rehabilitation professional practices and standards;
  • Knowledge of the Code of Ethics as outlined by Canadian Occupational/Physiotherapy Association;
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in the rehabilitation;
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care;
  • Ability to work with partners to enhance the continuum of care;
  • Ability to be effective in planning, implementing and evaluating change;
  • Ability to assess clinical competency and performance;
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare comprehensive and concise reports and correspondence;
  • Ability to be self-motivated and demonstrate commitment to continued learning;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement rehabilitative programs/services and care plans;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan, organize, schedule and assign work, resolve operating problems;
  • Proven ability to build teams and resolve conflict;
  • Demonstrated computer skills and full proficiency with MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook);
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Quality improvement and client service oriented; and
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

The successful candidate is required to have a Baccalaureate in Occupational or Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy, a minimum of 5 years' experience within a professional scope of practice, preferably within an acute care setting and a minimum of 2 years of management/supervisory experience in an acute care health facility with impatient and outpatient services. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered. The successful candidate must have current membership, in good standing, with either the Canadian Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists Association and current CPR. Physiotherapists must have current registration with Professional Licensing, Government of Yukon.
The following are considered desirable: A degree in Health Administration Management; an undergraduate degree or specialization in health care field or equivalent experience related to this position; operational knowledge of Hospital Information Systems and experience with MEDITECH.
