Job Overview
Northern Vision Development is seeking a mature and dynamic manager to oversee the Downtown Hotel and Eldorado Hotel in Dawson City. The successful candidate is a dedicated, hands-on leader who takes ownership for the performance of the hotel. Your success as the manager is measured by achieving consistent results across operational, regulatory, human resource, and financial domains. You are a forward-thinking leader who is constantly and critically evaluating what is required for sustainable success and executing that vision – and to do that, you understand the importance of inspiring and developing your team internally while upholding NVD’s values within the community at large.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all daily operations to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Supervise, train, and motivate staff to achieve performance and service excellence
  • Develop and implement business strategies to meet financial goals and drive profitability
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming hotel environment for both guests and employees
  • Oversee budget management, cost control, and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as the primary point of contact for guest concerns, feedback, and problem resolution
  • Build strong relationships with local community stakeholders and vendors

Required Experience & Competencies

  • Experience: Considerable experience in hotel management which includes a background in housekeeping (front office and/or guest is an asset).
  • Education: A degree or diploma in hospitality, hotel management or related.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven ability to lead and mentor hotel staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment that ensures operational success and staff engagement.
  • Financial Expertise: Strong skills in managing hotel budgets, analyzing financial data, controlling costs, and driving revenue growth to achieve profitability targets.
  • Guest Focus: A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, with the ability to anticipate guest needs, address concerns, and create a welcoming atmosphere that enhances the guest experience.
  • Operational Excellence: Expertise in overseeing day-to-day hotel operations in a rural setting, including housekeeping, front desk, and maintenance, ensuring efficiency and smooth running of all departments.
  • Strategic Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to independently manage challenges, respond to emergencies, and make sound decisions that align with the hotel's goals and guest satisfaction.

Salary: $65,000 per annum

Work Location: This position is based in person in Dawson City, Yukon.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. May occasionally need to be flexible for evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
Physical Demands: Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs and perform tasks that require standing, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
