Northern Vision Development (NVD) is seeking a General Manager to lead the first Hyatt hotel north of 60, located in the heart of Whitehorse, Yukon. This brand-new 115-room property offers an opportunity for an innovative, results-driven leader who is ready to lead a dynamic team to pioneer a new chapter for Hyatt in Canada’s north.

As General Manager, you will oversee all aspects of operations, focusing on delivering outstanding guest experiences that reflect Hyatt’s renowned hospitality standards while embracing the unique spirit of the Yukon. Success will be measured by successful hotel operations, exceptional guest satisfaction, and strong financial performance, ensuring the property establishes itself as a leader in the Yukon market.
Key Performance Areas
- Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and motivate managers and staff to ensure operational excellence and high employee engagement.
- Operations & Service Excellence: Oversee daily operations, ensuring top-quality guest experiences and maintaining high service standards.
- Guest Satisfaction: Ensure exceptional service and resolve any guest concerns, maintaining a consistently positive experience.
- Financial Performance: Drive revenue growth, control expenses, and manage budgets to achieve financial goals.
- Community & Client Relations: Build strong local relationships and promote the hotel’s presence in the community.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: Develop business plans, budgets, and forecasts; analyze performance and communicate results to ownership and stakeholders.
- Compliance & Policies: Ensure compliance with legislation and company policies, addressing any employee issues with respect and professionalism.
Required Experience
- Experience as a General Manager in a full-service independent, lifestyle, boutique and/or luxury property, including:
- Managing hotel budgets, driving revenue growth, optimizing operational efficiency, and overseeing profit and loss;
- Experience in fostering a strong team culture, especially during periods of change or transition.
- Experience managing properties within established hotel brands and maintaining high-level service standards and guest experiences in line with brand expectations.
Preferred:
- Hyatt experience is a plus!
- Experience in leading organizational change, particularly in the successful launch and operation of a new hotel
- Post-secondary education in hospitality, hotel management, or business.

- Change management: Leading successful change during the opening and establishment of new hotels.
Compensation Details
- Salary range: $80,000-$85,000 based on 40 hours per week

Job Requirements: Flexibility in working hours, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays, may be required to ensure a successful launch and ongoing operations.
