Reporting to: General Manager
Job Purpose
To ensure overall compliance of operations with PS Sidhu Trucking’s safety manual and applicable health, safety and environmental regulations, and support supervisors where needed.
To ensure facilities and equipment are in proper condition and facilities and equipment regulations are followed by operational employees.
Role of the HSEC

  • Oversee the implementation of the PST health and safety manual, including proper documentation and record keeping of all required information.
  • Monthly and annual reporting to management
    • Incidents – Number and frequency
    • Near misses – Number and frequency
  • Inspections and recommendations/orders – Internal and regulatory
  • Support Supervisors and project safety representatives with various assistance including but not limited to;
    • - PPE requirements
    • - Site Inspections
    • - Reporting
    • - Safety summaries
    • - Traffic Control
    • - Spill Reporting and Cleanup Coordination
  • Project specific planning and requirements, drafting Project Specific Safety Plans, Environmental Management Plans, and Traffic Management Plans.
  • Manage and execute COR Audits
  • Review and revise safety manual as needed
  • Compile project safety binders for supervisors prior to project startups annually
  • Inspect safety equipment and special tools for compliance with calibrations and conditions, keep a log for equipment maintenance and calibrations
  • Facilities and equipment tracking
    • Facilities inspections (plants, camps, offices)
    • Pre and post occupancy inspections of facilities and vehicles, documenting damages
    • Equipment log and pre trip recording.

Experience and Qualifications (training can be provided to ensure up to date certification)
- Experience as a leader in workspace safety, either in a management or administrative role.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, general computer literacy is a mandatory requirement for employment.

Update Occupational Health and Safety Manual as required (this will be overarching framework with additional procedures to be developed under Task 2).

Review and update the Occupational Health Safety and Environmental Manual as new processes, tasks, equipment is identified. Make recommendations for additional HS controls using hierarchy including additional practices.

Annually at minimum

Development of any new work practices or procedures. PST has an existing detailed manual/list, and this service would be for new practices and procedures once initial review is completed.

Conduct New Hire Safety Orientations Work for onboarding

Create risk assessment and site specific safety plans.

Receive, review and submit any required legislative forms (i.e. return to work/light duty, incident investigations, medical aid, employers report of injury) and liaise with regulators for OHS matters.

Manage the COR program to ensure PST is following COR expectations (assist with training requirements and internal/external audit scheduling, JHSC etc.)

Complete and assist in investigations.

Review Medical Monitoring requirements for workers as legislated based on exposure

Act as the receiver for digital site documentation and file it electronically.
