Full-Time Sales Associate (NOC64100)

North End Gallery is a premier destination in Whitehorse for Yukon and Canadian art. We are looking for someone keen to take on the role of our lead customer service position. Our ideal candidate will be someone ready to embrace the independence, responsibility, and potential this position offers.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Accept cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit payment
• Operate cash register
• Operate computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems
• Provide advice about merchandise
• Perform data entry
• Provide customer service
• Assist in display of merchandise
• Conduct sales transactions through Internet-based electronic commerce
• Greet customers and discuss type, quality and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental or lease
• Maintain sales records for inventory control
• Prepare merchandise for purchase, rental or lease

Requirements:

• willingness to learn about Yukon art and artists,
• strong organizational skills and attention to detail,
• ability to maintain a calm and kind demeanour under pressure,
• desire to take initiative,
• customer service and cash handling experience,
• maintain effective working relationships with a small team of colleagues,
• 2nd language is an asset,
• computer fluency including knowledge of MS Office, photo editing software, etc,
• high school diploma
• photography and videography skills,
• familiarity with First Nations culture and history,
• education related to digital marketing, art, and art history,
• capable of standing for long periods and lifting boxes up to 50lbs

Hours: 40 per week
Wage: $18.00-21.00 depending on experience
