The Kenädän Kų̀ House of Learning, part of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN), is expanding its team and seeking a dedicated Education Support Coordinator to join us in fostering student success. Reporting to the Manager of School Age Education, the Education Support Coordinator (ESC) plays a vital role in supporting students and families by connecting them with essential resources, addressing barriers to attendance, and ultimately helping students reach graduation. This role is centered on supporting the educational journey and career aspirations of KDFN youth throughout their school years (K-12).

Required Qualifications (what we look for on your resume): An equivalent combination of post-secondary education (i.e.: Diploma), combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified above, will equally be considered.
- Post-secondary education in Social Work, Indigenous studies, Education, Career Practitioner or similar combined with experience working with First Nation students, preferably in a school setting;
- Experience working within a case management model is required;
- Experience advocating and supporting First Nation children and youth;
- Experience developing successful individualized graduation plans; and
- Experience in planning and coordinating projects and events.
Required knowledge and skills (what we assess/may interview on):
- Communication Skills including excellent written and verbal skills to effectively interact with students, stakeholders, and parents;
- Organizational skills to be able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, schedules and resources effectively;
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify problems, analyze situations and develop effective solutions;
- Knowledge and ability to comprehend and follow policies and processes;
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships based on trust; and
- Knowledge of, and experience with, a variety of strategies, including technology, to support learning;
- Knowledge of and experience with Yukon First Nation ways of knowing and doing, including land-based learning, language(s), and culture;
- Knowledge of Yukon public school education system and community-based educational and Indigenous service providers in Yukon.
Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on-going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.
Conditions of Employment:
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle; Satisfactory pre-employment criminal records check with vulnerable sector search and Standard First Aid & CPR an asset.
