THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a unique opportunity for someone to engage with local Citizens in providing educational opportunities. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and delivery of FNNND Education programs offered in the community and to FNNND citizens. Responsibilities include overseeing the Post Secondary Education Training Program, the Dunena Ko’honete Ko Daycare and the Youth Centre, Education Advocacy services at the JV Clark School, and Continuing Education Training programs. You will have an overall mandate for supporting department staff in the development of proposals and budgets to the appropriate funding agencies and ensuring that FNNND Education programs and services opportunities are delivered and implemented for Citizens.
THE PERSON
You are knowledgeable of education principles and programming and like to manage and deliver policy development within FNNND’s social structure, traditions and cultural values. You have good communication skills in your ability to foster positive, honest, trusting relationships among staff, Citizens and the general public in empathy and compassion valuing the people and ideas in a respectful and meaningful way with the ability to adapt to new and challenging changes in the education system.
QUALIFICATIONS
This person will require Grade 12 or GED Equivalent, with a degree or diploma in Education or related field combined with experience in managing and/ or delivering programs to a diverse range of clients of all ages. You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience of early childhood, K-12, adult and special education principles and programming. Your strong decision-making and problem-solving skills through a high degree of diplomacy will be key to your success in this position. Demonstrated effective supervisory skills are necessary. The successful candidate will possess a sound knowledge of FNNND social structure, traditions and cultural values affecting First Nation’s people.
