Early Childhood Educator Dance Instructor

Job Type: Part-time Contractor(September - June)
Working hours: Variable hours working afternoons, Saturday and occasional Sundays

Background: We are a small, dynamic dance school located in beautiful Whitehorse, Yukon. Our school offers a wide range of dance styles from primary dance, RAD ballet, jazz, tap, commercial dance and more!
Reports to: Artistic Director
Job Summary: Our primary age program(s) instill a love of movement and teach rhythm, musicality and structure in a safe, fun environment. Through play-based learning, we explore basic dance vocabulary, movements such as marching and galloping, and move to various styles of music.
We are looking for an experienced early childhood educator who can instill a love of dance in young children through music, movement, stories, games and materials. Instructors are responsible for creating and delivering age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate dance classes for students aged 2-8 depending on class assignment.
This is a part-time position, (September – June) working Saturdays 8-4, possible weekday afternoons (3:30 – 5:30) and occasional Sundays to prepare for seasonal recitals.
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Level 2-3 ECE certification
- Experience working with children ages 2-8
- Willing to take dance instructor training (30 hrs, paid)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate with families both verbally and in writing
- First Aid
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Class 5 driver’s license
