Core Cutter/Geotechnician

Yukon Metals (YMC) is a junior exploration company with 17 projects throughout the southern Yukon. YMC explores for gold, silver, tungsten, and copper projects at an early stage. Job Title: Core Cutter/Geotechnician
The Core Cutter/Geotechnician is responsible for providing general physical support to the Exploration team during the 2025 mineral exploration season. This position will be field based, and the season will run until approximately early to late September 2025. This is a seasonal contract position with opportunities for career advancement in a growing company.
Responsibilities:

• Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations during field work and labour activities.
• Working with a team to conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans ahead of the work being completed and performing work in a safe and well managed manner.
• Splitting core using a diamond saw, bagging and tagging the cut samples, and organizational management of the cut samples.
• Assist in providing proper shipment forms in correlation with the assay lab.
• Moving pallets of core using skid steer or pallet jack.
• Troubleshooting any sample issues.
• Assist geologists and geotechnicians with various core shack and field activities.

Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience in core cutting or exploration activities is preferred.
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills.
• Physically capable of manual labour, exertion for up to 12 hours, and capable of lifting 20 kg.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Self-directed and self-motivated; ability to approach work with a continuous product improvement mindset.
• Experience working at a remote site is an asset.
• Proven commitment to safety, health and environmental standards.
• Must pass pre-employment medical, substance abuse test, criminal records check and provide a driver’s abstract.
