Construction Labourer (NOC 75110)

Job Summary
Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of structures and buildings. Unloads and loads materials, reads plans and specifications, tends machines, assists carpenters, and other construction site workers.
Responsibilities

  • Load, unload and transport construction materials
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
  • Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
  • Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Assist in demolishing buildings
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hand tools such as power drills, hammers, and saws
  • Ability to perform repetitive actions using your hands, arms, wrists, fingers, legs, or other body parts
  • Commitment to wearing protective safety gear for heat, noise, and prevention of injury on the job site
  • Desire to work long shifts, usually up to 8 hours, during the day
  • Good English oral comprehension skills to follow verbal instructions and respond to questions about job tasks
  • Steady hands and ability to balance well even on high beams or scaffolding
  • General knowledge of construction operations and procedures
  • Ability to work well with a team of subcontractors and a supervisor
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) preferred, but not required
  • 7 months to 1 Year experience in Construction
