Civil Engineer-in-Training, Municipal Engineering

The opportunity
WSP is currently seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Municipal Engineering Team in our Whitehorse office. As a Civil EIT, you will provide support to intermediate and senior level civil engineers on a wide variety of projects throughout the region of Northern British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Our professionals will provide mentoring and opportunity to develop in a variety of civil and municipal practice areas. The position will involve significant time out of town on field assignment during the construction season.
This is a Whitehorse, Yukon based position. We welcome applicants from across Canada; relocation assistance to Whitehorse will be considered.

What you can expect to do here: • Design road, stormwater, water and wastewater infrastructure; • Coordinate the preparation of drawings required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates; • Contribute to the cost effective, proper and timely production of engineering designs, that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards; • Coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved; • Provide project management and construction contract administration services for municipal, First Nation, provincial, and federal projects as required • Construction services including site inspection and contract administration on projects, including travel • Surveying using GPS RTK equipment, robotic total stations, and survey levels • Drafting using Civil 3D • Attending design meetings with clients, other consultants, and contractors • Writing design reports • Site investigations What you'll bring to WSP ... • An undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university • 2-5 years of experience in a consulting environment on municipal design projects will be an asset • Experience with MS Office suite, especially Microsoft Word and Excel • Eligibility for registration with Engineers Yukon is required • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 or later • Previous success in customer services, client management and proposal/report writing is an asset • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills • A Yukon Class 5 driver's license and a clean Driver’s Abstract • Willingness to work remotely in Yukon communities for 2-3 weeks at a time
