CAMP COOK / FIRST AID ATTENDANT
Fox Exploration Ltd. is accepting applications for an experienced Camp Cook / First Aid Attendant (OFA3) for mineral exploration camps located in the Yukon Territory. There are full-time, relief and part-time positions available. Fox Exploration provides project management and support personnel to various clients in the natural resources sector. Job Requirements:
In the dual position of Camp Cook and First Aid Attendant you will play a key role at one of our remote mineral exploration camp by coordinating all catering services and providing remote site first aid duties. This position requires an individual who is highly organized and who works well independently and within a team setting. This position reports directly to the Camp Manager. Transportation to and from the job site will be provided on a rotational basis along with room and board while in camp. A Cook's Assistant will be provided.
Camp Cook Responsibilities:
- Prepare daily meals for camp of 25-35 personnel.
- Train and supervise the Cook’s Assistant to help with food preparation and cleaning duties.
- Prepare baked goods and desserts made from scratch.
- Communicate with camp staff and create menus that reflect site preferences.
- Efficiently maintain food inventory for projected camp personnel numbers.
- Design and execute a Food Safety Plan.
- Order, received, and properly store grocery orders.
- Liaise with grocers for quality, quantity and back orders.
- Maintain a well-organized and clean food preparation and storage area.
- Ensure good housekeeping in the work area at all times.
- Maintain a safe workplace.
- Provide facility orientation to incoming kitchen staff.
First Aid Attendant Responsibilities:
- Perform first aid duties and be available 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.
- Initiate and oversee medical evacuations.
- Ensure first aid supplies and equipment are in good order.
- Ensure applicable Occupational Work and Safety guidelines are adhered to.
- Participate in toolbox meetings.
- Work with the Camp Manager in the implementation of the Company’s Emergency Response Plan.
- Conduct mock medical evacuation and emergency procedure exercises with site personnel.
- Report all incidents and accidents and maintain record keeping.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year working in a remote camp as a Camp Cook.
- Organizational and management skills
- Able to train a helper in the kitchen.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with attention to detail.
- Ability to work a rotational schedule.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work long shifts.
Preferred Licensing & Certifications:
- Valid Level 3 First Aid Certification (OFA3) or equivalent IS MANDATORY.
- Food Safe Handling Certificate preferred.
- Culinary Diploma and/or Red Seal Designation preferred.
Schedule
Relief rotations: 2 weeks on.
Regular rotations: 4 weeks on 2 weeks off.
Anticipated Start: May 1, 2025
Anticipated End Date: October 15, 2025
