Responsibilities
- Support journeyman carpenters with measuring, cutting, and fitting materials including lumber, plywood, and engineered products.
- Assist in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to prepare work layouts.
- Operate hand and power tools safely, maintaining equipment and ensuring clean, organized work areas.
- Help construct, install, and repair structural components such as floors, walls, roofs, and cabinetry.
- Apply finishing techniques including trim installation, sanding, and sealing under supervision.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, wear personal protective equipment, and report hazards or incidents immediately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some carpentry or construction coursework is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in woodworking and construction methods.
- Basic familiarity with measuring tools (tape measures, squares, levels) and willingness to learn power tool operations.
- Physical fitness to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Good communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
