Your Role
Reporting to the Archivist and Heritage Data Analyst (HDS), the Archivist Assistant helps the HDS lead the effort to establish Carcross/Tagish First Nation’s archive and manage the operations of the Community Knowledge Keeper (CKK) online database. This position is responsible for assisting the HDS to create and implement policies and procedures that apply to the preservation, appraisal, access and management of C/TFN’s archives.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist to create and implement policies and procedures that apply to the preservation and management of C/TFN archives
- Engage with relevant staff, councils, and the community to create and implement work plans for establishing C/TFN’s archive
- Assist to develop essential procedures and processes to guide the establishment and management of C/TFN’s archive
- Assist in arranging and describing archival holdings
- Along with the HDS, liaise with the creators of the CKK to organize training, troubleshooting and management
- Other related duties
Essential Qualifications
- Coursework in the field of archives and/or records management
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn best practices, procedures and standards in the field of archives
- 1-2 years experience in the field of archives
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Suitability
- Knowledge of the unique contexts and considerations in Indigenous archives and documentary heritage
- Familiarity with the Community Knowledge Keeper online platform
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Conditions of Employment
- Verification of coursework in the field of archives and/or records management
