JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Capacity Development, the Deadly Uncle Wellness Support Worker is responsible for supporting the mental health and overall well being of students at Ghuch Tla Community School / Individual Learning Center (ILC) and youth attending C/TFN youth programming. The Deadly Uncle Wellness Support Worker will be a listening ear and a positive role model for students and youth.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in GTCS / ILC activities and C/TFN Youth Programming as a positive role model.
- Provide listening ear for students and youth when needed
- Support students and youth to connect with additional services and supports as needs become identified
- Support the implementation of individual behaviour plans in place at GTCS/ILC
- Promote positive role modeling amongst older students / youth for younger students /youth.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent in experience
- Experience working with children and youth

- Conflict resolution and mediation skills
- Strong leadership and team building skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of C/TFN Culture, Traditions and Law’s an Asset (or willingness to learn)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Willingness to participate in day trips and overnight trips
