JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Career Manager, the Education, Employment and Training Officer (EETO) assists C/TFN Citizens by administering the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Strategy (ASETS) and Post Secondary Education (PSE) programs. Additionally, this role will organize training events and professional development initiatives with a goal of increasing education and employment opportunities for Citizens.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer the ASETS and PSE programs according to the terms and conditions of the corresponding agreements
  • Maintain a library of employment and training related information, career opportunities and education facilities
  • Maintain a complete file of clients under the ASETS and PSE programs
  • Advise C/TFN Citizens on the availability of training funds and the conditions attached to applying for such funds
  • Organize workshops and short courses by arranging for facilitators and informing C/TFN staff and Citizens
  • Ensuring that the education and training is delivered within budgets and meets departmental requirements and priorities
  • Liaise with trainers and trainees
  • Inform Citizens and Departments on a regular basis on progress of training plans and programs
  • Organize and support meeting for the education advisory committee

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of post-secondary coursework in business administration or related
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & SUITABILITY

  • Familiarity with training resources and programs available at the Territorial and Federal levels will be considered an asset
  • Strong research, report and proposal writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively as an integral part of a team and foster a team approach to service delivery
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including presentations, briefings and reporting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to develop, coordinate or facilitate workshops and orientation sessions

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
